Download Mp3: Red Sands

Flying the skies of The Netherlands, Pilot7 released an untitled stomper last year that caught my ear. I've long had a fascination with the perceived 'temperature' of a song. This one prompted intense inescapable heat, drilling humanoids into a delirious crawl across some desolate surface. I suggested to Pilot7 that I could offer some guitar improvisation in order to enhance this vision. Guitar and voice were added. The tense result can be downloaded here:

Red Sands

The title is partly inspired by a recent trip out to Quilpie, and in particular a little geographic feature called 'Baldy Top'.

David Bridie and NIN eat your heart out!
Awesome.
Almost reminds me of Futurology.
You've captured the essence of the outback heat, or maybe its the hot day here. lol
I get the feeling of a large landscape, vast but with heaps happening, like the flies buzzing, heat haze, sweat etc.
At the start you've got telegraph poles whizzing by as you drive along that long long highway. At the end it sounds like all of your energy has been sapped away by the heat.
Loads of atmosphere.

This DA thing is terrific. Hope you get lots of traffic.

Yeah I get a sense of moment too. Although other people have suggesting running from something, as if there were some danger. Cool, people can imagine whatever they like.

We'll see how we go with dA. Who was that other person you mentioned who was trying to release music on dA?

Well its great it evokes something. Better than leaving them cold. Ha I said something funny.
Have a look at Naze's site. She is really nice, like chatting with her and love her art. She dosen't own a tv either and is educating her kids her self! Thats commitment.

Hey! I love your town! People just came up to us and started telling stores... so friendly. The countryside is beautiful. The lifestyle seems relaxed and down to earth, not at all like the growing amount of insanity over here on the coast.

Was slightly considering moving there, although I'm not sure if I could hack the summer (being from frosty Armidale and all), and I'm not sure how I could make money out there being an audio engineer :P

We will certainly visit again!

Actually no, we only passed through around lunch time, a few weeks back. We're into bird watching so the lake was visited. Next time I think we'll stay and maybe head all the way out Birdsville.

Thanks. I'll bet it's pretty wonderful at night too with all the stars.
